If you come to the book expecting a “stunning novel of suspense” that moves with “page-turning pace,” I could quite imagine you might even find The Seville Communion a bit dull. To see what your friends thought of this book, please sign up.
I am not going to go into details, however Perez-Reverte seems to specialize in details – and very believable details, about the inner workings of the Vatican of Spain and Seville especially relating to church, business and government intrigue. When you think it cant go worse, then it comes the ending, omg!!! Was this book a best seller? In Seville more characters appear. So were the descriptions of the sunlight on the church, on the river, and everywhere else, even though we are talking about torrid Seville, descriptions of the light must amass a good 10 pages.

The reader is complicit in these attempts, not so much due to pirl skill of the writing as to the fondness developed for the characters and their foibles. I decide to read this after good experiences in the past specially with “El Club Dumas” and “La Artuo de Flandes” but find it really disappointing.
